Vault USA Executive Leadership
Vault USA’s executive leadership team is made up of seasoned data protection professionals who have spent their entire careers selling and supporting data storage, backup, & recovery solutions throughout the world.
Tom Gelson, Founder, President and CEO
Tom's career and entrepreneurial spirit have evolved with the technology leading up to the launch of Vault USA, his third successful venture in the data storage industry. From his first position as an Equity New Issue Coordinator with Merrill Lynch in New York, he went on to a Washington, D.C., based Senior Account Manager role at EMC Corporation. From there, he became Director of Sales, Marketing, and Support for Acknowledge, Inc., the first third-party manufactured unattended tape backup drive company for IBM midrange and mainframe systems.
His ten years at the helm of More Solutions, the first data storage company he founded, led to a merger in 2001 with virtual tape storage software company Neartek, Inc., and a position as Senior Vice President of Neartek.
In 2004, he founded More Group Inc. as an employee owned and operated company led by a seasoned enterprise storage executive team that had worked with him at More Solutions. The More Group is a leading enterprise storage management integrator offering turnkey solutions and professional services for today's demanding IT data center environments. On May 1st , 2008, More Group was acquired by Forsythe Solutions Group Inc., a 37-year-old North American IT infrastructure integrator and Vault USA acquired the MoreStor Vault offering.
Tom is a graduate of St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia where he earned a bachelor of science degree in Marketing.
Tom Trometer, Chief Financial Officer
Tom is responsible for the financial management of Vault USA's operations. In this role he provides oversight for the financial management of the business, directs the corporate treasury function, establishes the protocols and standards for internal reporting and assists in building the business model and plan for the company. He has over 25 years experience, and was previously VP Finance and CFO of CableSoft, where he was instrumental in raising capital and selling the company to Motorola. Trometer was also VP of Finance and Treasurer of Opta Food Ingredients, a public company, and was instrumental in raising over $40M in equity funds. He was also a manager in the Middle Market and Growing Companies Division of Price Waterhouse Coopers.
He is a CPA and is a graduate of Canisius College where he earned a bachelor of science degree in Accounting.
Alexander Stoev, Chief Technology Officer
A principal industry architect of online backup and recovery technology, Alex served as Director of Technology for the MoreStor Vault, the online backup and recovery solution launched by More Group Inc. and acquired by Vault USA in May, 2008. Previous, he had spent 11 years at Asigra where he was instrumental in growing their install base to over 5 Petabytes of data throughout the world. He was a key executive as Asigra launched the first agentless backup/recovery software solution designed for both enterprises and service providers.
Alex has a master of science degree from the Technical University Sofia in Bulgaria. He also holds expert certifications with industry leading server, operating system storage, and infrastructure applications & solutions.
Brian Baker, Director of Sales
Brian has dedicated his entire career to data storage management and is highly regarded in the IBM mainframe & midrange customer communities for having delivered hundreds of complex data storage management solutions and implementations. Brian began as an inside sales person for More Solutions Inc. and rose through the ranks to be Director of Sales for MoreStor Vault and now Vault USA.
Brian is a graduate of Bryant University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in Finance.

Allen Deary, Chairman
Allen joined Vault USA in October 2008 as Chairman of the Board and private investor. He is also Vice President of OPD Services for Sierra Atlantic, a $100M+ IT Services and Product Development Company which purchased Array Incorporated in August of 2007. Allen currently serves on the Board of Web Layers and CYA Technologies. Allen co- founded Array Inc. in 1999 as a privately held company with no outside capital investment. Array was always profitable since inception as they grew into a full-service software engineering firm offering an innovative engagement model that maximized their clients' product delivery and quality at the lowest possible cost while minimizing their offshore development risk. Before Array, Deary co-founded Peritus Software Services, Inc. in 1991. He served as both CFO and CEO of Peritus and led a highly successful IPO of the company in 1997. Prior to Peritus, he served as Director of Worldwide Product Development at Honeywell-Bull. Deary also worked at Apollo Computer, where he held a number of financial positions including Controller of Customer Support.
Allen is a graduate of Northeastern University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in Accounting.
Jim Milligan has a deep history as a senior executive with 3M and Imation Corporation, a data storage company spun off from 3M in 1996. In particular, he brings extensive leadership experience with regard to developing complex global business relationships with OEMs such as IBM, HP, Sun and Dell, and channel partners such as Office DEPOT and Corporate Express. Most recently, he served as general manager of the Americas region for Imation, where he was responsible for driving P&L results in the region, predominantly with and through OEMs and commercial channels of distribution. He was instrumental in leveraging Imation's dominant data storage media position into a broader portfolio of products and services including DataGuard Vault, an on-line backup service targeted for small to mid-size businesses.
Charlie Palmer is currently a private investor and has served on the Boards of numerous private, public and civic organizations. He was most recently with Sierra Atlantic, where he focused on the successful integration of ArrAy Incorporated. With fellow Vault USA Board member Allen Deary, Palmer co-founded ArrAy in 1999 as an outsourced product development (OPD) company and as co-CEO led the growth of ArrAy into a leading, international OPD services company with development centers in the United States, China, Ukraine, Bangladesh and India. Prior to co-founding ArrAy, Palmer was president and CEO of Gentia Software Inc., where he transitioned the headquarters to the U.S. from the UK, tripled revenues and attained profitability which led to a highly successful IPO. He also spent 20 years at Comshare, Inc. where he served in a number of senior executive positions the most recent being senior vice president of North American Operations. Palmer grew Comshare into the largest independent time-sharing company and then led its transition into an industry-leading business intelligence software and services company.
Steve Townsend served for nearly 25 years at United Natural Foods, Inc., the leading natural and organic food distributor in the U.S, having joined the company in 1981 as controller and rising through the ranks. In 2006, he retired after having served as president, CEO and chairman for five years. During that time, Steve was instrumental in growing sales from approximately $1 billion per year to more than $2.3 billion per year and successfully completing more than 25 acquisitions
